The short version

Otis keeps your documents on your device. We never see them, and nothing from them is sent to us. There's no account and no advertising.

Your documents

Documents you add to Otis, the facts read from them, and your cars, homes and people are saved only on your device, using iOS data protection, so they're encrypted while your device is locked. They aren't sent to us or anyone else.

Reading happens on your device too: Apple's Vision framework reads the text, and on devices with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model helps find the details and answer your questions. Nothing is sent to a server to do this.

Reminders

Reminders are local notifications scheduled by your device. They show a document's name, provider and date, and never references such as policy or passport numbers.

Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts

If you use them, Otis shares document names and dates with your device's Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts so you can find and ask about them. References such as policy and passport numbers are left out. These features need your device to be unlocked.

App lock

If you turn on the app lock, Otis asks iOS to check your Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. Otis never sees your face data or passcode.

Data we collect

Otis doesn't currently collect any data.

A future version may collect limited usage data, such as which features are used, to help us improve the app. If it does, that data will be private, used only to improve Otis, and will never include your documents or anything read from them. It won't be used for advertising, to track you across other apps and websites, or be sold. We'll update this policy before that changes.

Deleting your data

Delete a document in the app to remove it, or delete Otis to remove everything it has stored.

Children

Otis isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect anyone's information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above.
